Chilean power firm Guacolda Energía has accomplished building of a 3 MW photo voltaic plant on the tailings dam in Tierra Amarilla, within the sunny Atacama area of northern Chile.
The $3 million venture is positioned on 4.5 hectares of land. The power it generates will likely be used for the mining operations of the Chilean firm Pucobre. René Opazo, operations supervisor for Guacolda Energía, described the set up as “a milestone for extra sustainable mining.”
Tailings dams are earth crammed embankment dams that retailer the merchandise of mining operations, corresponding to floor rock, water, and gangue minerals.
