    Exide Industries chief says lead batteries still ‘core business’, exports grow rapidly

    December 1, 2022: The boss of India’s Exide Industries says the event and sale of lead batteries stays the corporate’s “core enterprise”, regardless of its entry into the lithium ion sector.

    Exide CEO and MD Subir Chakraborty mentioned within the second quarter earnings name on November 16 that the corporate’s market share within the abroad lead batteries market “continues to develop quickly” – with extra requests for of quotations to provide auxiliary lead batteries for electrical automobiles.

    “We presently export to 60 nations all over the world, with the largest markets being Europe, the US, Saudi Arabia and Southeast Asia.”

    Chakraborty additionally confirmed that Nexcharge, its lithium ion three way partnership with Swiss battery storage agency Leclanché, is now a 100% owned Exide subsidiary. Exide beforehand had an 84.90% stake in Nexcharge.

    In the meantime, Chakraborty mentioned Exide is pushing forward with its collaboration with SVOLT Power Expertise for lithium ion cell manufacturing in India.

    SVOLT, headquartered in China’s Jiangsu province, is supporting the development of a state-of-the-art inexperienced subject manufacturing plant on a turnkey foundation to be constructed by Exide Power Options (EES) subsidiary.

    Exide mentioned EES entered into an settlement on July 26 for the 80-acre website on the Hello-tech, Protection & Aerospace Park, within the state of Karnataka.
