MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Madison Gasoline and Electrical (MGE) has been authorised by the Public Service Fee of Wisconsin to buy extra photo voltaic power and battery storage.
MGE can now buy photo voltaic power and battery storage from the Darien Photo voltaic Power Middle and personal 25 megawatts (MW) of photo voltaic power and seven.5 MW of battery storage from photo voltaic battery storage services in Rock and Walworth counties in southern Wisconsin.
Jeff Keebler, MGE Chairman, President and CEO, stated the Darien Photo voltaic Power Middle is a crucial step within the firm’s transition to cleaner power sources.
“MGE’s investments in cost-effective, clear power and battery storage expertise will assist be certain that all of our prospects expertise the financial and environmental advantages of our clear power transition,” Keebler stated.
The Darien Photo voltaic Power Middle in Walworth County has as much as 850,000 photo voltaic panels. It’ll generate sufficient clear power to energy about 75,000 houses, and the MGE portion of the output will energy about 7,500 houses.
The ability is anticipated to be accomplished by the tip of 2024. MGE goals to cut back carbon emissions by not less than 80% by 2030.
