    Nano One, Umicore sign tech development agreement

    December 22, 2022: Nano One has signed a joint growth settlement with Umicore on manufacturing course of applied sciences for lively cathode supplies for lithium ion batteries, the businesses introduced final December 21.

    Umicore will take a look at Nano One’s M2CAM One-Pot course of know-how with the goal of integrating it with Umicore’s know-how for the manufacturing of excessive nickel NMC (nickel, manganese, cobalt) cathode lively supplies.

    The companions mentioned the settlement, along with any future licensing alternatives, is non-exclusive.

    Nano One CTO Stephen Campbell mentioned the companions “share a typical purpose of enhancing the environmental footprint, price, and efficiency of lithium-ion batteries, by way of supplies and course of innovation.” oh”.

    On June 9, mining group Rio Tinto mentioned it invested $10 million in a battery metals partnership with Nano One, to advance the corporate’s multi-cathode commercialization plans and assist manufacturing of cathode lively supplies in Canada.

    Umicore introduced the inauguration of its cathode supplies manufacturing plant in Poland on September 21.

    The Nysa plant will present cathode supplies for lithium battery cell producers. Umicore mentioned the power’s annual manufacturing capability is about to achieve 20GWh by the top of 2023 and 40GWh by 2024, with the potential to rise to greater than 200GWh within the second half of the last decade.
