Trina Photo voltaic has began manufacturing n-type i-TOPCon photo voltaic cells at its manufacturing unit in Suqian, Jiangsu province in China. It should use the cells, primarily based on 210 mm wafers, to provide a brand new era of Vertex N photo voltaic modules for industrial, industrial, and utility-scale purposes. It says that the brand new line has energy outputs of as much as 605 W, and an effectivity of as much as 22.4%.
“Benefiting from the brand new cell measurement and low voltage, the Vertex N 605W modules are completely suited to 104-meter-long trackers, with out losing area,” mentioned Trina Photo voltaic in a press release. “Six to 12 extra 605W modules may be linked to trackers than is the case with typical n-type 72-cell and 78-cell modules.”
The brand new manufacturing unit is one other step in Trina Photo voltaic’s concentrate on n-type expertise.
“As p-type PERC approaches its effectivity limits, it’s crucial that the manufacturing of n-type cells, which started to be commercialized final yr, be elevated,” it mentioned.
Trina Photo voltaic expects its 210mm n-type expertise module capability to succeed in 30 GW this yr. It began development of the Suqian facility in July 2022 and put in the manufacturing gear on the finish of November. In August 2022, the corporate achieved a 24.24% effectivity file for a 210 mm n-type i-TOPCon photo voltaic cell.
