The Hungarian authorities has introduced {that a} 233 MW solar energy plant has began industrial operation within the municipality of Mezőcsát, in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, northern Hungary.

“Hungary imports 76% of its power, and decreasing dependence on pure gasoline and growing the share of electrical energy from various sources are key targets,” tweeted Power Minister Csaba Lantos. “The inauguration of the Mezőcsát energy plant, the most important photo voltaic farm within the nation, is a step in direction of reaching these targets.”

Hungary-based PolSolar, the mission’s developer, raised €174 million ($185.9 million) in April 2022 by issuing a 15-year bond below the Bond Funding for Development Scheme (BGS), which managed by the Nationwide Financial institution of Hungary. These funds facilitated the completion of the Mezőcsát photo voltaic plant. The mission will promote energy to the nationwide grid below a contract for distinction (CfD) scheme.

The newest statistics from the Worldwide Renewable Power Company (IRENA) present that Hungary put in 2.98 GW of photo voltaic by the tip of 2020. New capability additions solely reached 20 MW in 2022.
